Paris, Part Deux

So I'm officially over a year behind in my posts - oops.

In January 2014, I visited Paris to see my brother and his family. Staying with the Amedro family is always an authentic french experience and an absolute pleasure.

The highlight of the trip was hanging out with my crazy niece again and meeting my nephew for the first time. Oh and Versailles. What a place.

Another small highlight to mention, was that Sam got to be king for a day. And naturally, I was his queen. A January tradition in France to mark Epiphany (the end of Christmas) with a galette des rois (a delicious almond pastry tart). The tart holds a fève “the baked-in prize” and whoever finds it is crowned king for the day. As part of the tradition, the the youngest child gets under the table (it was me) and the tart is cut into pieces as the child under the table yells out who each piece is for.
